No longer an insider’s secret, the ease that people who live in the luxury condos of Midtown enjoy, when time comes to “order in,” is now a way of life for many in Atlanta. The stay-at-home lifestyle is new to nearly all of us, but while it lasts there are advantages to be learned. Ordering meals, groceries, and essentials for pickup – or even to have them delivered – is becoming a way of life for the present. And when your home base is 40 West 12th Street, you’re already ahead of the curve.
Starting with Basics and Classics
Residents of the luxury residences at 40 West 12th have long been glad to have Whole Foods right around the corner, on 14th Street, and even now you can phone there for pickup. Whole Foods delivery comes from their location on Ponce de Leon, just a tad farther afield, yet well worth it when you don’t want to venture out.
South City Kitchen, with its contemporary take on Southern cuisine, is graciously accepting pickup orders, and Midtown residents in the know are glad. Just place your order between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday by calling 404-873-7358.
South City has organized three special, family-style meals to brighten the week of any stay-at-home household in these unusual times. All are built around their famous Springer Mountain Farms Fried Chicken. One option presents that chicken flanked by two Heritage pork chops with Creole mustard glaze. Another adds two orders of shrimp and grits, with smoked tomato gravy, collards and all the fixings.
All of South City Kitchen’s family takeaway meals include four corn muffins, four biscuits, whipped butter, green salad with benne seed dressing, and a pint of pimento cheese. Beer and wine come at 50% off their listed price, and all gratuities go toward the Fifth Group Family Fund, organized to keep food on the table for the families of South City employees.
Bringing Home the Unusual
While home cooking is becoming a lot more familiar for some, that doesn’t mean you’re stuck with your own recipes. Not by a long shot, when RA Sushi Bar delivers from as close as 10th & Peachtree, and they’re ready for online ordering.
The cuisine of Café Intermezzo – which includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner – has always been wrapped in the sense of unhurried enjoyment, inspired by the coffee houses of Europe and the practice of pausing in the rush of the day. Café Intermezzo Midtown has arranged for delivery and last week announced a special curbside pickup menu that includes pastries, coffees, and half-priced beer and wine.
